At Tree Tops Gloucester our preschool welcomes children from approximately three to four years old. Children in preschool enjoy a variety of activities including free play, circle time, role-play, music and movement, sand and water, arts and crafts and outings. French and swimming are also offered to our preschool children.
Play underpins the delivery of the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework (EYFS) and we aim to provide all children with a broad and balanced range of experiences in order that they develop socially, emotionally, intellectually, physically and morally.
Our team provides a balance of planned and unplanned opportunities (indoors and outdoors) that will allow the children to encounter positive learning across all the areas of Learning and Development.
Preschool children have access to a wide range of activities and resources to expand their learning including ICT. They go on outings outside the nursery environment including trips to local parks and attractions to develop their curiosity and sense of adventure within their local environment.
At the end of your child’s preschool year we hold a graduation ceremony/concert. This is a lovely way to celebrate their time at our nursery before they transition to school.
Parents of the preschool children are always welcome to speak to our staff. We pride ourselves on good communication with parents. We provide a daily sheet so parents know what their child has got up to that day. We also provide information about the weekly learning topics so parents can continue their child’s learning at home.
All children have a learning journal where we capture all that you child is achieving and learning.
More structured communication occurs at our annual parents’ evenings which allow us to get together for an informal chat. These are especially important in preschool as they give us the opportunity to discuss the transition to primary school. We build strong links with primary schools to ensure that the transition from nursery to school goes smoothly.
